I started my 3rd new job in the last 14 months today.

I think I learned more today than I have in the last 2 jobs I've had, and when I saw the "WTF?" rubber stamp in one of my new co-workers desk drawer, knew I was going to fit in just fine.

You Learn Something New Everyday

Three years ago, I turned 44. I know it's just a number, but it seemed, well, so OLD. Instead of New Year's I make my resolutions on my birthday. Makes it more even, in my mind. In order to get past a potential mid-life crisis, I wanted a real life-changing resolution. Something other than get down to the weight on my drivers license, which realistically, will probably never happen. So I wanted out of my life's rut.

So I took inspiration from one of my favorite authors, Marc Acito, (OK outright stealing his idea) and aimed for trying or learning something new every day. It was a real challenge, as my life is so busy and structured that its hard for me to deviate from my regular routine.

Anyway, I did my best. I didn't quite make it to one new thing a day, but came close. And it did help me break out of my rut.
